Greetings outside world. I’ve been in semi-seclusion since before sheltering came into vogue knocking out my next book, no short-term project. While working on manuscripts I usually fall out of any regular blog-posting pattern, saving my bullets for the manuscript. Now into its finishing touches, I’ve put the ms on a back burner to streamline my websites.
Three years ago in conjunction with the launch my first novel, Heartstrings in B-flat Minor, I bit on a web designer’s suggestion to push a new domain he’d found, ScottJohnsonBooks. Now, with a name like Johnson if you find something like that without ten numbers behind it you’re thinking it was meant to be. All I had to do was write at least one more book, as in “Books.”
A second new domain, really a shadow figure of “Books,” also was built using the book’s title. My original website www.ScottJohnsonLive.com dates to 2013 in support of Voiceover pursuits and related matters. It has carried book info, too; but from a secondary position.
So, that bit about Johnsons jumping at numberless domain names has played out twice for me. Unbelievable! However, three websites became cumbersome fast. I gutted it out for three years. Those days are done.
Present Day needs call for “Live” to step forward. With my Blog now moving from “Books” over here to “Live,” the latter becomes my primary site. I’ll keep both alive, but “Live” is more versatile and remains my sentimental favorite. It will continue being linked to “Books” and “Heartstrings.”
In the past, I’d post a Blog entry about once monthly if not in blinkers while writing a book. Sitting down to write this entry, I was thinking my last Blog post had been back around the 2019 holidays. (After New Year’s, I’d pulled out all the Concentration Stops to push my ms into its home stretch run.)
Looking back, though, I wasn’t particularly surprised to find it had been more than a year since my last Blog entry (D-Day/2019). At that time I was working on my manuscript’s skeletal first draft, only surfacing 6/6/19 to promote a Barbara’s Bookstore Book Signing event.
Remember Book Signings?
Back to my last Blog post. Turns out it had come the day after a dear writer friend’s death. If you’re looking for an unusual read that touches funny bone to heart, with a tear toll in transit, read Carla Anne Ernst’s “Life Without Pockets: My Long Journey into Womanhood.”
A high school classmate of mine, Carla’s book is enlightening. She was sorely missed at our class reunion just three months after her death.
Remember reunions?
Meanwhile, I need to get back to that new manuscript of mine to wrap up finishing touches. Can’t wait to tell you more once the time is right.
Take care, be safe!
